ORLANDO. Fla. - "God has a specific purpose for my life, specifically with my talent," says David Nixon, founder and owner of a commercial production company and the producer of Sony Picture's newest venture Letters to God.

This Australian born film maker was born to missionary parents and has been a dedicated follower of Christ since his 17th year. His dream has always been to provide faith based films for the much neglected religious community.

The opportunity for his dream to be fulfilled came in 2006 when he was presented with Facing the Giants, a movie written by a small town Baptiste church in Sherwood, Georgia.

Despite its humble origins, Facing the Giants feared well, and Nixon moved on to a bigger project, Fireproof, still working with Sherwood Baptiste Church and their ideas.

His expectations for Letters to God are higher than Facing the Giants and Fireproof. "We hope that Letters to God, with its extra components, will draw a bigger crowd," says Nixon.

Letters to God, inspired by a true story, is about 8 year old cancer patient, who close to the end of his life, writes a series of letters to God.

The remarkable thing is that Tyler, the cancer patient, writes about the people in his life that his illness affects, his mother, his brother, even his class bully.

The cancer story is universal, a problem that affects everyone and Letters to God is a catalogue to get people to cope with cancer,a way to change people's hearts and their attitudes about cancer.

Letters to God is a memorial written by the father of the actual Tyler, who died from brain cancer.

Nixon has been fulfilling his dream by making faith based movies that reaches millions. "They don't slap you over your head with a Bible, but they're core based," says Nixon.

Letters to God hits theaters April 9th. Nixon plans to continue his work, and is currently working on another film.
